yet another very moving film for andy and I.....It has defn. been a theme for me this past year to be more interested in the world issues and learning more about the reality of life, and peoples journeys.....
last wk, andy and I got another documentary called "God Grew tired Of Us"...it is about the lost boys in Sudan coming to America. it is a must SEE. i even showed it at our chick nite with the youth gals....amaze. we now own it....it is compelling...real....and moving. we are so blessed with everything that we have here....electricity, a bed, family, God, education....etc.....

year 6 for andy and i at camp.....lake geneva. we took 33 kids....i was perfect. reggie dabbs is perfect......the services...the power..the healing....the impact of this amazing genx. we love our roch children.....too much to say in a blog. but i am so proud of the breakthrough my girls had..and the rawness. loves to my rochwood chicas.....look at itunes "the gate sounds" for our camp videos....under andy cass. loves.

My birthday is next wk...and over a week ago i was shopping with cass fam at the local pier one... and was shocked to find a beautiful and precious item...my jewelry armoire!!!! I love it... it is a long story...but i was being obnoxious and wanting/demanding this for aug 5..and low and behold, my amazing HUS had it in the basement awaiting ccc to be patient. love you apie...you are amaze!!!!

A and I always love a good documentary...to switch it up...to see inside someones perspective....life......views.....etc. recently, i have been totally enthrolled with "darfur now" it is intense. makes my heart heart for Sudan...the pain. the loss. the destruction....the voilence...the lack of home/comfort. i have watched it 3 times and cant stop thinking about.....

"Darfur Now is a call to action for people everywhere to help stop the catastrophe in Darfur, Sudan. For the first time in history, the US government has declared a genocide while it is still ongoing. In this documentary the struggles and achievements of six very different individuals bring to light the situation in Darfur and illustrate the absolute need to get involved. happy red white blue! this is my 7th yr celebrating the 4th here in point with the cass fam. andy and i have had a great wknd......saw the movie hancock, chilis with the 'rents. bbq at ryan and kristins.....with their new puppy-puggle---gracie. we were bonding........we now have 10 pups in the fam....it is a crazy thing, let me tell you....some river time too for fireworks. loves to loni, jim, ry and kristin!

when moving to rochester back in 2004, i had so many emotions and thoughts on the changes in my life. the batzlaffs opened their home to me for one yr, until the big day of bliss for andy and i!
recently, chelcy was diagnosed with cervical cancer......less than one month ago.....long story short. she is already cancer free~
cab is a fighter!
cab is a child of God!
cab is a role model to many!
I feel like mine and andys faith has grown a lot in the past month, just seeing the blessings..........
chelcy ended up having her cervix removed. was in the hosiptal for 4 days. and is doing amazing! this is a pix of chelcy in the her hos. room a couple days after surgery being kissed by jordash (the tendant in our basement, ha)
keep praying everyone that God contines to protect Chelcy from the "c" word. loves to my rochester sis-Chels.

recently, elizabeth( one of my lil sis from the g8) and i hit up duluth for a 4 day rendevous!!! it was 100% amazing. with the hospitality of dave and marissa, cherry/dark choc. malts at the portland malt shoppe, brewhouse, gelato ice cream on the patio, walking a lot, blisters, beach fun, lots of holding babies....all girls... i think we counted 9 lil girls my friends have had....amzing breakfast with marissa, anne, and cute prec' emily!!! thanks emo for an amazing wknd.....with convo, laughter, and depth. you will go far in this blessed life!

andy and i recently got to hit up a cute town, about 60 miles south of here...Lanesboro. it was amazing....we stayed at a bed and breakfast called sacred clay farm. we loved it... it was built in 2001, beautiful blg, on 100 acres...all chemical free....with trails and gardens...we even saw a skunk. nast. ha. we ate a lot of food and were blessed to meet two families at the b&b. a and i biked only 12 miles. enough for me...and grabbed ice cream before heading off. it was much needed for the both of us...

It is so exciting to think that Rochester's churches are hosting such amazing women conferences now. The convience of staying in town.....last week..i had the opportunity to hit up Sara Groves at Autumn Ridge Church...It was amazing. Sara Groves is so inspiring to me and my heart..my burdens. Her transparency and raw-ness.. these past months, have been a quite unique journey. I feel as though, there is so much more to do out there. more than just doing a meal drop off....praying with someone at a altar. something bigger.......i have so many dreams. fears. and visions for my future. I thought is really compelling what sara said about "spiritual buffalo" ....

"There is a scene in the movie Dances with Wolves where the Sioux are on a much anticipated buffalo hunt. As they come up over a hill, they are shocked to see a field full of buffalo carcasses. The tragedy of that moment is that where the Sioux use every piece of the buffalo—the bladder holds water, the bone makes a tool, the skin is a covering for a tent- whoever has done this has taken the best part of the buffalo for himself and has left everything else to waste. There is no way to make good use of all that is lying in this field.

I was so convicted when I went to Africa that I am not using all of my spiritual buffalo. I have developed this one side of my personal relationship with God. I go to church, I have incredible worship, and I listen to incredible speakers. I have money to buy devotionals, and leisure time to do those devotionals. I have spent a lifetime grooming a personal faith in Christ, but have I been taking the best piece of the buffalo for myself? There has been a joy in discovering the good use of my life. There is a reciprocal redemption that happens when we enter into stories of helping our neighbor—not just around the world, but in our own communities. When I came home from Africa, instead of feeling guilty for my life, I began to hear God in a very clear way say, ‘that thing carries water, that thing makes a tool, that is covering for a tent.’ There is a beauty to the good use of a life, and to the acknowledgment that everything you have and do has a Kingdom purpose."

I want this for my life. for andys. something bigger. something CONSISTENT. I want to live knowing that I reacted to my gut. my calling. I want to follow God's word actively.

monday I hit up up the aerial hair show in mnpls with 4 gals from TF!!! and I met NICK ARROJO, thee icon in my industry....on the show "what not to wear"...he was on main stage and cut some locks, talked shop, business...it was a great time. This past weekend, We hit up our old stompin ground with our old Maranatha crew...Mars Hill kids...now adults! I did some h.o.t. hair styles.....and bonded with my old youth gals. we had a blast together. It is one amazing thing when you reunite with people that used to be teeny boppers and are now hitting next steps in life on their journey. The bride and groom have been dating for 4 years now...they are cute. we are going to be hitting up many weddings this season...like 6! high lites: hitting brit in the face. awkward...being firm with the photographers....keys bakery cake...and connecting with everyone! love you all.

with my sister home from colorado we had a jamped-packed weeknd. two trips to red wing to play games...eat bj goods.....laugh.....etc. the g8 fundraising has begun for our 2nd annual mex. missions trip in aug....BAKE SALE at church for the play/services. we raised great mula. andy and i went over to batzlaffs (used to live with them) for dutch blitz with jordan/chelcy and sara/kyle... it was awesome. andy and i have been on a animal cracker kick..so he thought since he was the oldest and all, to throw them everywhere, put them in shoes, on the driveway, and cars.....hilarious!!!! another pix is of andy and I with the arnolds....dear friends of ours....with their son, coop-digity....at church. it was a great wknd, ending at the finches on sund. night for qt with my youth girls and amzing family friends!

I love this time of year! why? not for the leaf-less trees, brown grass, ugg boots yet..but I love change. longer daylight! inspiration across the board! Other than those changes, Andy and I are doing great. liz + amy = beautiful souls. recently, my two great friends came down to rochester to experience some amazingness. we of course did some hair at tres francoise...shopped...grabbed starbux....church(mn teen challenge was there)AMAZING! we also dined at a local fav: SONTES' it is tapas style food. the atmosphere, food (all organic) service etc is exceptional! we were there for over 3 hours sharing conversations, stories, and LIFE! it was much needed. thanks girls for coming! love you both.

Candle Light Dinner is my FAVORITE. every yr our women's ministry puts on one amzing event.....it was held in the gathering area this yr! i had the opportunity to be on the planning team, which for me meant organizing the layout of the room, and designing the stage. with the assistance of my good pal, marilyn we made one awesome set! our theme for the event was "CHOCOLATE". 250 women came this yr. i had a blast...i also hosted a table! it was a blast....one of the pix is with my table ladies. osborns, shel/colleen, rosemary and lori! good peeps.

10 years ago, I turned 16.....10 years ago i got my license...10 years ago i experienced God for the 1st time at camp.....10 years ago, my sisters were the ages of the youth girls I work with, 10 years ago my favorite band was mariah Carey..and sad to say i loved "jock jam" ha. 10 years ago, I was a cheerleader..scary....10 years ago, I didn't see the beauty in me, I didn't have many people that were showing me a positive influence...I thought I was the only one that struggled with a lot of issues..10 years ago i went through a crazy year........learning..growing...and facing huge obstacles!

everytime one of the G8 kids turn 16...i go back. isn't funny how we associate age with so many things in life? we have our flash back moments.......

well, last night my loyal HTALLS turned sweet 16 (as mtv puts it)..so we lived it up! playing apples to apples and catchphrase, ate some amazing cookies, and celebrated! looking at HTALLS life, i am so excited to see what she is doing for GOD, pushing through the crowd! being in youth ministry we often overlook, or forget sometimes the wins! but heather, you are a rockstar, and we are so proud of you and your life being a reflection of Christ!

To my small group- CONTRAST gals.....I love you!!! It has been a blessing to have you crazies over week after week! HOLLER! thanks for throwing the cellular devices in the cell basket! Ha. You guys are the reason I keep going..moving forward..praying and fighting for you!

Yesterday, like any other day was the usual....but two things happened that made me laugh...a lot! the FS bldg where i work, there have been some encounters with the species called the "bat".....not the prettiest thing around. actually, scares the crap out of me....like mice. anyways, we were hanging lights on the ceiling beams the other day, joking about the bat....no sighting that day. well, low and behold, yesterday, the mailman got my attention, stating, "there was a dead bat on your sidewalk"...he then said, "isn't that coo(l)?" talked like my dad..ha i said, "NO!" later in the afternoon we decided to see joan's reaction at work, she jumped. it was hilarious.....all in all...this is a sign...it is too flippin' cold here...bats are frozen. nast!
2nd....as i was drivin home, i observed an old man, ticked at the world, because this chevy truck was an inch on the crosswalk...he started KICKING the man's truck, cussing, and yelling. i could hear this from across the intersection, in my car, with my heat on level 4..which is loud....i was laughing literally out LOUD, then realizing someone needs to do something, and the light went on in my head, K-9 police in front of me...he got on the scene in seconds. those are the times where we wish our light would stay red, so we can observe.....

random, yet funny....those are the moments in my life where i laugh.....cheers to blizzards killing species and making people crazy. ha. c3

one of my favorite things about this time of year...is being home more. Andy and I love having people over for dinner. one of my new fav. cookbooks that is the modern day betty crocker......thanks to rowans for showing me this essential item for cooking! i have made many recipes from it! we try to have people over for dinner at least once a week! it is a blast, cooking, baking (we have a bread machine/ kitchen aide), decorating the table (I enjoy this side), and playing games/ listening to amazing music..from reggae, norah jones, blues, to jon foreman ep. if only we had a fireplace!

The Gate Annual Talent Show

Every year, for the past 5, we have put on a talent show at youth group....potluck....video comp....and a party to end the year!! this year rocked! Cara, my sis, one for the "best actor" award....playing Marge. the ADHD crew danced to a song from youtube, it was hilarious. they ended it with some breakdancing by two of the guys. Til next year!!

3 weeks ago we had the privledge to going to St. Louis for our 2nd YS (youth Specialities) conf. this year we went with our good friends...Eric and Danielle Timm and Jesse. it was a blast. lots of seriousness. and laughter. a and i went to cincinnati last yr/ and loved the experience. i learned a lot and it was a good time to re-focus. dream for the G8, and be challenged. some highlights of the trip......

the pix are from our time at waffle house. this was a restaurant right by our hotel....we went 2 nights in a row, for our midnight waffle for $2! the staff was great. we felt like we were in a time warp...browns and yellow..music from reo speedwagon playing....lots to look at. all of leaving the WH, saying bye to the staff by first name, realizing that we were reminded of what it is to live outside the box. to live what we were being taught about. challenged to go to the un-comfortable.

a and i recently went up to north. min for a few days. we stayed in 2 harbors for a night. very relaxing. candles. jacuzzi. food. and QT. it was past due. we drove up the shore 2 hours and hiked, chilled. we ate at one of my fav. restaurants....coho cafe'. back in college, xa would eat there on our retreats. then we hit up duluth and stayed at our bfs the rowans....blast. lots of convo, hugging jodes buddah. ha. and walks...right, luke? got to see marissa and dave's new house. i sure miss the neighborhoods in duluth. sigh. but yes...thanks for a great time andy, duluth pals and timms' for letting us crash in FL for lunch!

one of the things that andy and i have been challenged in 2007 is SACRAFICE! we have been touched in many ways to reach out to others. simpfly our house/ ways of living. we are a bit delayed in our "ebay" habits. we just posted a large amount of things "we don't need" as andy says. it is a good feeling though..simpflying. getting out of debt. college loans getting smaller and smaller. another way we have been called to do is sponsorship for a child. over a year ago, we heard a statement...bold and to the point. " if you say you are a christian, and don't sponsor a child, you are not a christian." after pondering on that, we teamed up with compassion for our first child. http://www.compassion.com/sponsor_a_child/default.htm

Then after going to mex with the g8, i knew instantly that we needed to sponsor Dolce! So after talking with a, we decided to sacrafice our tv channels/ CABLE for her. He didn't want to add another bill to the cass list. so we sacraficed. and it is so rewarding! so the verse that has been layed on my heart is in James 1:27:Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. you see, some would be impressed with sponsoring "2" kids in mex. we are not... it only the begn. some day we will have a wall of pix of children we sponsor. so yes folks, cass is a dad. ha. jk.

this weekend, i had the opportunity to go to the women of faith conference with my mom in St paul. it was amazing. hearing the insight and wisdom from all the ladies on the "porch". i will defn. be returning another year. My fav was the worship from Nichole Nordeman.....on piano. she was so candid and real. my fav. song was "i am"

the nations church had muros everywere...jesse and a crew made them. one on harvest, their ministries, the fruit of the spirit. they are beautiful. after church we had a free day...went and saw puebla..the markets..the cafes' ...cathedrals...a great day. i had the idea to take senior pix of everyone...fun fun.

hi guys...so how do you recap such an amzing experience. as you all know..andy and i went down to puebla with 15 other peeps from the g8 to work at living hope...a orphange.....a church....a school.....a family! we had a blast. life changing! the fagans took over 6400 pix...for them to use. i cut 27 people's hair....taught a class....andy spoke at nations church and helped with the school of ministry....our team worked with the orphange....did games......art...played....laughed...cried...hugged lots of kids.....sports....worshipped.....and what was so cool was to see our team grow in christ- together-- and be REAL!. I am so proud of our crew, for their openness and rawness. We will forever have the handprints of these children our our hearts. Yesterday, Andy + I celebrated 2 joyous yrs of marrige. It sure was a good one. Ha. I gave him this pix from kt's wedding on friday for a make shift card....(more pix to come on cass life from wedding). We went to a new dive in Roch...called Avocado's World Bistro. It was a good experience....duck nachos....mashed bananas...etc. we stopped by at our friends, the arnolds to see them and their 12 wk old baby.cooper. a good night. A gave me a new bike, she's a beaut! for my bday and anniv. and i gave him a book called THE POST SECRET and bike gear. loves to everyone!

After a crazy weekend with the fam, we are tired! We went to red wing on sat to spend qt with the danielson crew. i did lots hair for dad, chels, and cara. on the deck of course. mom made a killer meal.......with red velvet cake and all. yum.
on Sund. we took cara to minnetonka to uncle rex and sharons house for a family bbq. first time together in a year and a half.g and g, 7 kids, and 7 grandkids...good times. lots of food and fun. we cruised around in uncle brian's new c7 volvo covertable.....that he picked up in sweden. good weekend. a and i won't see chels til xmas now. colorado.....new hm.

So a little late in posting....but 2 weeks ago i went to a cabin with a long lost friend/roommate. We hadn't seen each other in 3 yrs...picked up right where we left off....we went to her family's lake hm and spent some qt with her cuz Gina and hubby Nick, and her aunt and uncle. it was a blast. boating, ski-dooin, eating, and laughing. she also got a pup- chihauha, poodle, and yorkie mix named "jezabel" sp? and i fell in love with her aunt's pup- Gizmo-....breeding in a yr again..maybe an addition to the cass clan.

Liz and I went up for a quick trip to Duluth. The weather was perfect....80's and sunny. we did the usual, Brewhouse food, malt shoppe, and shopping...hit up hillside and lots of good talks with my lady friends. Jonelle and her cute baby met up with us for the night! I also, re-united with a pie...alicia! It was amazing. Blast from the past... she is missed.
